About

Philosophy

Integrity

Seek the best for clients and their projects through active listening, honest assessment, and candid discourse. Design for structural expression and authentic use of materials.

I believe beauty in simplicity is a hallmark of good design.

Respect and Well-being

Approach with humility. Guided by clients, design structures to harmonize with their surroundings and create spaces that provide comfort, connection, and healthy environments.

A lifetime in the mountains has reinforced the necessity of considering how topography and climate interact with building design.

Sustainability

Build enduring relationships.  Learn from building science, embrace new technologies for energy efficiency and responsible use of materials.

I want my clients to not only love their homes but enjoy the process.

Craftsmanship

Devotion to the work. Provide individualized care to every client. Attention to details.

Over thirty years of experience in design and hands-on construction enables me to think creatively with buildability in mind.

I see architecture as an art and a service.

Person

Born in the Midwest and raised in Colorado, my love and respect for the landscapes of the West have led me to a life in the mountains where I raised my daughter, learned my trades, and continue to enjoy outdoor activities. After a career as a professional downhill mountain bike racer, I sought work as a carpenter to gain hands-on experience with the long-term goal of designing structures. During my 25 years in construction, I held various roles, from carpenter to superintendent, while concurrently studying architecture and designing homes. Eventually, I joined Daniel J Murphy Architect, hung up my toolbelt, and continued to hone my skills designing homes and small commercial buildings. Now, as a licensed architect, I bring my unique and comprehensive background, with a deep understanding of a project’s life cycle, to serve my clients and create projects I believe in.
